Knee Arthroscopy

Minimally invasive knee arthoscopy is frequently performed in the setting of a meniscus tear. This is performed as a day procedure. Knee arthroscopy is also used during knee reconstructions.

ACL Reconstruction

Dr. Mike Smith performs ACL reconstructions via a minimally invasive technique. Both patellar tendon and hamstring graft options are available and a decision on management will be made in conjunction with the patient.

PCL Reconstruction

The PCL is reconstructed using a hamstring or synthetic graft. It may be performed in isolation, or in combination with a multiple ligament reconstruction.

MCL Repair/Reconstruction

The Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) is a large strong ligament on the inside of the knee. In some acute injuries, a repair of the MCL is warranted. In the chronic scenario, a reconstruction using a hamstring graft is performed.

Patella Stabilisation Surgery

Patella (kneecap) stabilisation surgery is performed on people who are experiencing recurrent patella subluxations. The goal of this procedure is to normalise the tracking of the patella within its groove, and prevent the patella from dislocating.

Knee Osteotomy

In young patients with isolated arthritis to a single compartment, a corrective tibial osteotomy may be performed. This involves minimising the contact pressure that passes through the affected compartment. Patient specific instrumentation is used for added accuracy.
